On August 29, 2025, the Pakistan Navy formally handed over command of the multinational Combined Task Force 151 (CTF-151) to the Brazilian Navy at a ceremony in Bahrain. Commodore Sohail Ahmad Azmie passed leadership of the counter-piracy mission to Rear Admiral Marcelo Lancellotti after a successful term that featured extensive regional security operations. 

The change of Command ceremony was attended by Military and civilian dignitaries, Ambassadors of Pakistan and Jordan and senior officers from other navies forming the maritime coalition.

  • The Command: CTF-151 is part of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) focused on preventing piracy in the Arabian Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Indian Ocean.
  • Key Achievements: During their tenure since Jan 2025, the Pakistan Navy strengthened partnerships via Operations Enduring Resolve, Ocean Watch, and the successful Operation Sea Spirit, involving 13 CMF partner nations.
  • Significance: The handover took place at CMF Headquarters, Bahrain, presided over by Vice Admiral George Wikoff, marking a smooth transition to Brazil's leadership.
