The Pakistan Army formally inducted Chinese-manufactured Z-10ME attack helicopters on August 2, 2025, to boost its combat capabilities. The induction ceremony, attended by COAS General Asim Munir at Multan Garrison, marks a significant modernization of the Army Aviation Corps, replacing older helicopters with these advanced, all-weather gunships.

Key Details of the Z-10ME Induction:

  • Capabilities: The Z-10ME is an upgraded, all-weather, day/night attack helicopter featuring advanced avionics, electronic warfare suits, and enhanced engine power. It is designed for precision strikes against ground and aerial threats.
  • Armament: The helicopters can carry heavy, specialized weaponry, including up to 16 HJ-10 anti-tank missiles, making them potent for close air support and anti-armor missions.
  • Replacement: The Z-10ME is replacing Pakistan's aging fleet of US-made AH-1F Cobra attack helicopters.
  • Acquisition: While exact numbers were not officially released by the ISPR, reports suggest Pakistan has acquired up to 40 of these helicopters.
  • Strategic Role: The introduction of this "Chinese Apache" strengthens Pakistan's defense capabilities amid regional security challenges.

The Z-10ME-II has already begun participating in, and demonstrating its capabilities in, major military exercises like the "Raad ul Fatah" combined arms firepower drills.
