David "Syd" Lawrence (1964–2025) was a Gloucestershire and England fast bowler, recognized as the first British-born Black cricketer to represent England. Making his Test debut in 1988, he played 5 Tests and 1 ODI, taking over 600 first-class wickets before a severe knee injury in 1992 cut his career short.
