Key details regarding the launch and operations of the PERA Force include:

  • Objectives & Function: PERA acts as a dedicated enforcement body to control food prices, eliminate encroachments, and break the "dala culture" (illegal intermediaries). It is designed to act against the land mafia to retrieve public land.
  • Operational Scale & Expansion: The force began operations in the Lahore Division, with plans for a phased rollout across all districts of Punjab by December 2025. It will eventually have a workforce of over 8,000 personnel.
  • Structure & Equipment: The authority is empowered to conduct inspections, seize goods, and arrest violators. The force is equipped with modern vehicles,, motorcycles, and gadgets.
  • Accountability Measures: CM Maryam Nawaz directed that all field operations be recorded via body cams to ensure transparency and prevent bribery or abuse.
  • Training & Gender Inclusion: The force includes female Senior District Enforcement Officers (SDEOs). Initial training for 519 enforcement officers has already been completed.
  • Management: PERA is headed by the Chief Minister as chairperson, with the Chief Secretary of Punjab serving as vice-chairperson.
